AND 2022: Our yearly competition is now open for submissions

2023-10-11 – Updates

AND

A celebration of emerging contemporary photographers from across the globe. Each year we strive to celebrate and support the outstanding work of those who are consistently creating unique and powerful stories.

AND is a free to enter yearly competition. An annual showcase of some of the most interesting and distinctive photographic works from across the globe. With a free open submission to all, the best stand alone images are carefully selected by our team and published in our yearly exhibition publication. This year we are continuing to seek out the best and most influential documentary and portrait photography. We are looking for works that have strong narratives, photographers who demonstrate passion and produce powerful and compelling stories through stunning imagery. No fees, no sign-up, our annual is an open celebration of photographers from around the world.

This is a competition for all, with no boundaries, no pay-to-play, no catch, supporting the works of new up and coming contemporary photographers. We understand that not everyone may wish to subscribe to our newsletter longterm, but we sincerely hope that you choose to remain connected with Then There Was Us. With social media becoming increasingly turbulant, we want to build a community and aim to reintroduce the thrill of receiving unique content in your mailbox. With expanded content and features, our Newsletter will start new dialogues. We'll share some of the ideas, links, and resources we're exploring and give your inbox something worthwhile opening.

If you want to submit your work and be part of AND 2023 please read the following:

Up to 5x images per submission.

Do not use WeTransfer, we cannot guarantee we will see your work before the link expires.

We accept PDF’s (Low MB's only)

All images must be submitted at a maximum 2MB as JPEGS.

If you’re successful we’ll be in touch and will request high res images ready for print.

No fee, No cost. This is an open submission.

We are a small team that dedicates our spare time to this project without receiving any compensation. Unfortunately, we cannot provide free copies of the publication but we can send the PDF to anyone who is part of the project and wishes to access it without charge. We recognise that not everyone may be able to purchase a copy of the annual and that's both totally understandable and absolutely fine. The profits generated from the annual publication are crucial for the continued existence of this project for another year. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Unfortunately with the sheer volume of submissions, we can only reply to those who are successful.
