Climbing, UK

Growing up in the UK, surrounded by the serene mountains and difficult climbs that sit within the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District, Sam Pratt’s work is an exploration of the sport he became obsessed with from a young age.

Words by Sam Pratt.

Call it an obsession, an attachment, an addiction.

A process of fine details and the smallest of margins.

This is projecting.

The attachment to success is obsessive, you lie awake at night fixating on the smallest of subtleties.

Progress isn't linear, the sting of regression a regular sentiment.

Often success derives from one’s ability to draw positivity from small markers of progress.

Engrossed in the process.

Face to face with failure.

The reward.

Elation.

Ecstasy.

A story of elite performance and euphoric success.
