Since being founded in 2018, hundreds of thousands of Extinction Rebellion activists have taken to the streets across the globe in a fight to protect the planet we live on. People within this horizontally organised movement use non-violent civil disobedience to cause as much disruption as possible, in the hope of pressuring their governments to take the crucial action we need at this tipping point in human survival.

These images were taken at the April 2019 Rebellion, which shut down 5 key locations throughout Central London; Waterloo Bridge, Oxford Circus, Parliament Square, Piccadilly Circus and Marble Arch. Over 1000 activists were arrested, however within weeks of this 2 week long occupation, the UK government declared a climate emergency and announced a target for net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
