A Documentation By Harriet Broom
January 8, 2018

“Growing up I found myself moving from place to place, never really finding a sense of where I belonged. As a result of this my work has become a visual documentation of my search for where this place actually is. The photographs I take remain quite fluid, never identifiable as a particular location. I have realised that a lot of the time it’s simply a desire to seek a familiarity with the surroundings I find myself in, whether that’s through quiet details of the place itself or the people within it that mean a lot to me – I am often drawn to photographing similar things wherever I am. For my degree I moved from the South Coast to Manchester, another completely new place to me. Upon graduating in summer 2017 I continue to live and photograph in Manchester, whilst working as a Teaching Assistant on the Photography course I graduated from at Manchester School of Art.”
